Rabari

Nipa Doshi & Jonathan Levien

"The spontaneous compositions of the rugs symbolize the freedom to improvise and the serendipity inherent in each small step of a handmade piece; cheerful, irreverent and unique."

—Doshi Levien

The Rabari collection is made from 100% New Zealand wool and produced by hand in India using the Hand knotted and Hand woven sumak techniques.

Beyond the exceptional beauty provided by the bright color of the wool curl; the Rabari are two rugs with an exceptional design; a canvas on which the designers have projected a refined combination of rhythms and a unique graphic sensuality.

We wanted our collaboration with Nani Marquina to reference these unfinished embroideries as studies of different techniques that gradually emerge over time. The spontaneous compositions of the rugs symbolize the freedom to improvise and the serendipity inherent in each small step of a handmade piece; cheerful, irreverent and unique.” Doshi Levien
