We sat down with Sabine to explore her innermost dreams as a designer

Whether collage, painting, tapestries or sculptures, Sabine Finkenauer exposes a minimalist world accompanied by extremely vivid colors. Apparently simple, it hides a complex synthesis process. The artist plays with the combination of elemental shapes for a well-thought-out result that enhances the beauty of the work and provides a playful aspect to her creations. When one is in front of her work, a feeling of joy and constant joviality arises.

Today, we chat with her to discover who she is and what’s behind Sabine Finkenauer.

1# A nani rug (that is not yours)

Maybe because it reminds me of some of my drawings or because I simply can't resist stripes – one of the “Ceras” rugs.

2# The iconic design object you would have liked to design.

The "Akari" lamps by Isamu Noguchi.

3# A designer or artist with whom you would like to share a dinner.

With Fien Muller and Hannes van Severen.

4# What is more valuable: the idea or the result?

There are many ideas… It is the result that verifies the idea and gives it value.

5 # In the creative process, how often do you reject the first idea?

The first idea is the one that starts the process, but if you are not willing to sacrifice it, it will probably lead to failure.
