Details

MATIZ rethinks traditional weaving techniques by shifting the focus from pre-dyed threads to a more experimental and expressive process. Each rug starts with a hand-woven base in a single color. Once finished, a second contrasting tone is applied and dyed by hand, allowing the pigment to interact organically with the woven surface.

Fibers

65% Hand-spun Afghan wool

Afghan wool comes from high-grazing sheep in the mountains of Afghanistan. Naturally wavy, it is a very resistant and coarse material. Due to the curl of the wool and the unevenness in the spinning, it achieves a unique, aged look when woven.

35% New Zealand Wool

New Zealand wool is typically known for being the whitest, cleanest, purest, and most natural in the world. Its softness is partly due to the altitude and vegetation available to the flocks. It is guaranteed to be cruelty-free.

Technique

Hand loomed Dhurrie

The use of recycled slivers directly contributes to the reduction of unmanaged waste, as well as to reductions in CO2 emissions, since no virgin material needs to be produced or transported. The tone of these yarns preserves the irregularity and tonal richness of the wool mountains.

Matiz Collection

Conceived as a contemporary reinterpretation of the dhurrie, MATIZ reimagines traditional weaving techniques by shifting the focus from pre-dyed yarns to a more experimental and expressive process. Each rug starts with a handwoven base in a single color. Once completed, a second contrasting hue is hand-dyed, allowing the pigment to interact organically with the woven surface.
