Doblecara

Ronan Bouroullec

The geometry and subtlety of movement by Ronan Bouroullec.

Doblecara, designed by Ronan Bouroullec, reflects his spirit of geometry through subtle linear and intermittent strokes ending in a blurred point, creating a sense of movement in the viewer's eye.

The mastery and indefatigable desire to always go one step further resulted in this collection with a double meaning. Doblecara is a reversible rug, both sides of which can be enjoyed, the ‘B’ side being the most subtle and delicate, while the ‘A’ side shows the straight-lined design in its maximum expression.

The choice of technique was key to the development of Doblecara: for the first time, the ancestral kilim and its reminiscences of things past have been combined with hand-knotting to create the lines, giving the rug great strength and rhythm. Each rug is handmade from hand-spun Afghan wool. Its rustic appearance and the inherent irregularities of this fiber come together to create a unique rug that evidences the beauty and authenticity of the craftsmanship involved.

Lines, strokes and geometry come to life in four conceptual rugs in three colours combined in positive and negative: black-beige, beige-black, beige-red, beige-red, beige-beige.
