Estudi Manel Molina & Nani Marquina present Folded, a bench that emerge the traditional concept of the rug
Nani Marquina, in collaboration with designer Manel Molina, introduces a new bench inspired by the essence of the rug. This design elevates the functionality of the rug beyond the floor, transforming it into a practical and versatile piece of furniture. Both the upholstery design and the shape of the bench itself have been conceived as an inseparable duo, where functionality and expressiveness go hand in hand at all times.
Folded is available in three carefully selected designs: Colors, a plain version that highlights the purity of its lines; Pattern, a patterned model that brings dynamism and texture; and Flowers, an option with embroidered flowers that evokescraftsmanship and the beauty of detail. Each of these versions reflects mastery in the use of natural materials and respect for artisanal tradition—distinctive characteristics of Nani Marquina's work.
"With this bench, we wanted to explore new dimensions of the carpet concept, taking it beyond its usual use and giving it a three-dimensional presence in space," explains Nani Marquina. Meanwhile, Manel Molina highlights the piece’s versatility and artistic character: "We seek to merge art and functionality into an object that transcends the conventional."
The launch of this collection reaffirms both designers' commitment to innovation and sustainability in contemporary design, offering a proposal that balances aesthetics, comfort, and a cutting-edge reinterpretation of a traditional element.
