Blur

Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec

A collection with two readings with sequences of geometric shapes and repetition.

The sequence of geometric shapes and repetition are definitely the hallmark of the Bouroullec brothers.

Their mastery, meticulousness and tireless spirit of going one step further has led them to work on Blur, a collection with two readings. When viewed from afar, an indefinite, out-of-focus surface is appreciated that gives the collection its name. But nevertheless, when approaching one discovers rhythmic lines and rhombuses in different proportions, in the purest kinetic style.

This smudged effect has been achieved by reversing the direction in which kilims are traditionally woven, making them much more laborious to carry out. This change in the production process causes the lines to become blurred, unevenly mixing two colors creating an aged rug reminiscent of the past.
