The Shade collection is inspired by magical moments in nature where colors melt and speak for themselves. Designer Begüm Cana Özgür emphasizes: “this is a handmade flat-weave rug that generates an incredible and well-rounded diffusion of color. The surface releases a sense of tranquillity and well-being that is balanced by the penetrating vibration of colors.”
This collection of exquisite simplicity reflects a complex technical process to achieve the density, regularity, and fluidity of the desired effect. Two gradients converge in each rug, one vertical and one horizontal, in the same plane, harmonically using six transitional shades.
Shade is available in four ombré palettes: from turquoise to eggplant, russet to Klein blue, raspberry to forest green and grey to brownish garnet.
Begüm Cana Özgür
Born in 1989, Turkish designer Begüm Cana Özgür received her master’s degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art, US. In 2014, she opened her studio, based in Istanbul, where the cultural richness of the land has been the major motive in her work, developing an interest in ancient craft practices.
Cana’s work integrates design, art, and crafts. Starting from the initial ideation, her design process is carried out hands on. She plays with common materials and existing techniques to fully understand their potential in order to develop new contemporary expressions. The experimental process results in the development and adaptation of skills, suggesting new ways of doing, which enable design ideas to inhabit a truly authentic form of body in her work.

Hand loomed Dhurrie
The dhurrie is characterized by being a flat-structure rug, formed from the crossover between the weft and the warp strands. It can be done on both vertical and horizontal looms.
The technique offers infinite finishes and the use of different materials. Simple designs can be created or more elaborate motifs can be achieved through the use of different densities.
Warp and weft enjoy the same prominence within the design configuration; since they are evenly spaced, both are visible.
These slim and lightweight rugs usually depict geometric patterns, presenting a firm, resistant and knotless surface, which make dhurries clean and easy to maintain.
